Att kollektivet skulle vara större än summan av dess individuella delar passar utomordentligt väl för att beskriva Tonbruket. Musikaliteten hos bandmedlemmarna ligger redan som det är på en hög nivå. I mötet med varandra skapas något större, en egen ljudvärld som trotsar genrebeskrivningar och som bäst och enklast bara beskrivs som just, Tonbruket.
Tonbruket består av Dan Berglund på bas (E.S.T., Rymden), Martin Hederos på klaviatur och fiol (The Soundtrack of Our Lives, Hederosgruppen), Johan Lindström på gitarr och pedal steel (Johan Lindström Septett, Rebecka Törnqvist, Elvis Costello) och Andreas Werliin på trummor (Wildbirds & Peacedrums, Fire!). Vid flera tillfällen har Tonbruket agerat backup-band åt Ane Brun, både på skiva och på scen.
